The one motor provided the driving force on the center shaft seen in the 4th picture. The other motor moved the shaft along to engage gears to move to the different functions. Unfortunately it was very finicky and I couldn't tell where the shaft was half the time. It would work great in a crane perhaps, where you can see what is going on.
