Manufacturers Description:
Created 100 years ago for the mountain dwellers in the Savoie region, Opinel pocket knives are designed and used in tune with nature. These knives have remained unchanged since 1890. Their sturdy design, with wooden handles that follow the natural shape of the hand, and their timeless shape make them a part of our heritage. Throughout the years Opinel's continuous demand for quality has built a solid reputation.
Hand finished and
made using the latest technologies, Opinel handcrafted Knives are alive,
personal and unique. The Museum of Modern Art in New York City has chosen to
include Opinel Knives in its display of one of the 100 most beautiful objects in
the world.
Although simple in appearance, Opinel Knives are the result of
very elaborate techniques in which Joseph Opinel put function first and then
combined it with aesthetic quality. Certain small details make up Opinel's
charm. Handcrafted and guaranteed for life.
Made from a natural wood handle with a carbon steel blade to maintain a razor edge.
These excellent French knives come in a variety of sizes starting at just 3.5 cm and going up to 12 cm.
All models over 7 cm in length feature a safety locking ring holding the blade open or closed.
Safety Features: Double safety ring "VIROBLOC", created by Marcel Opinel in 1955, locks the blade either in open or closed position.
