My first car.

It was a 4 door 4 Cylinder 1300cc 4 speed that was bought from a dealer on Jules street in Malvern. At the time I really wanted the 2 door XR3, but the 1300 was what I could afford.  The 1300 motor eventually began to smoke (what is oil and water for?) in May 1996.

I bought a second hand 1600cc motor with 5 speed gearbox, front suspension and CV's in May 1996 from Frano at Wadeville Auto Spares scrapyard in Wadeville near Germiston. Frano also installed the motor for me.

After much abuse, the 1600 motor blew in December 1996 and I had a mechanic Lionel at LNT rebuild the motor. I traded the car in on a 1997 Ford Escort 1600 Sport in Aug 1998 after the engine started spewing oil.

Sound

At the time in 1997, my sound in this car was LOUD. It went through many changes, even 4 x 6x9,s on the back deck with a 10" and 15" sub!

This was the days before the internet was easily available and lots of trial and error was used in my budget setups. More experience was gained by also installing friends sound setups.
