Manufacturers Description:
Taylor Brands
LLC makes Smith and Wesson and Schrade knives. This Shrade Viper 3 is
the 3rd generation Out-The-Front single action knife from Schrade.
An
out-the-front knife, is a knife with a blade that moves directly
forward out of the handle. This is a contrast in style as conpared to a
traditional pocket knife, where the blade folds out from the handle
around a fixed point.
The SCHOTF3
Viper Out-the-Front Assisted Opening knife from Schrade features a
double-edge blade with a bead blast finish. The handle is dark gray
finished aluminum with a safety, pocket clip and glass breaker. To
deploy the blade, simply push on the slider near the base of the handle
to get the blade moving and the spring assist mechanism will take it
the rest of the way. To retract the blade, release the lock and pull
down on the slider to lock it back in place. It is assisted automatic
deployment and manual retraction.
The 3rd Generation Out the Front Assist model has a 3.5" double edge
spear point blade, tough aluminum handles, and a locking safety
mechanism.
I did not like the fact that there is a safety switch on the knife. I decided to remove the safety switch.
